新西兰移民局中国办公室最新发布的数据显示，2006-07年度，赴新西兰留学的中国学生签证申请和上一年度相比，增长了26. 83%。从2006年7月到2007年6月，新西兰移民局在中国的三个办公室（北京，上海，香港）共收到了5，189份学生签证申请；而2005-06年度，共收到了4，091 份学生签证申请。

“对中国学生来说，新西兰持续成为受欢迎的留学目的地国，”新西兰移民局发言人Lorraine Tomlinson 女士说，“新西兰教育能够为国际留学生提供很多 – 有大量高质量、国际标准的学习机会。另外，新西兰还有其他值得一提的方面 – 生活方式，友好的人民以及学习之后的工作机会。”

Significant Increase of Student Visa Application Numbers from China

Immigration New Zealand data shows that the numbers of Chinese students being approved to study in NZ in 2006-07 has increased 26.83%. From July 2006 to June 2007, the total number of student visa application was 5,189, in comparison with 4,091 in 2005-06.

“New Zealand continues to be a popular place for Chinese people to study, “said Immigration New Zealand spokesperson Lorraine Tomlinson, “New Zealand education providers have a lot to offer students from overseas – there are plenty of high quality and world class study options. Added to that is everything else New Zealand has to offer – the lifestyle, the friendly people and work opportunities when studies are completed.”

“Plus, changes to student policy in 2005 make it easier for students to work while they study here. That policy change means more students are now eligible to work while they study, the number of hours students can work each week during term time has increased from 15 to 20 and more students are entitled to work full-time over the summer holidays,” Ms Tomlinson said.
